Lemon Law Attorney

Lemon law refers to the area of the law that offers recourse to those who have suffered damages from a defective vehicle.  There are few things more frustrating than an unreliable vehicle, especially a newly purchased one.  Thankfully, lemon law offers protection for those who purchase a vehicle.

Each state also has its own statute of limitations for lemon lawsuits, which does not usually last for a very long time.  If you have purchased a defective vehicle, and you believe your situation may be protected by lemon laws, then contact a local lemon law attorney in your area.  He or she can not only represent you in litigation, but also work with the car dealer to potentially avoid litigation.

Lemon Requirements

You may find yourself asking many different questions.  What might classify my vehicle as a lemon?  Do I need an attorney to recover my damages?  Would it be easier to enter into arbitration than filing a normal lawsuit?  Does lemon law also apply to the purchase of used vehicles?

Each state has its own requirements for a vehicle to be considered a “lemon.”  These requirements generally include how serious the defect must be, how many attempts are necessary to repair the defect within a certain period of time, and when to notify the manufacturer of one’s defective vehicle.

Lemon Prevention

Often, the proper preventative steps can be taken to avoid purchasing a lemon.  Also, warranties can usually be purchased, which can cover certain defects or damages on a vehicle.  Unfortunately, all of the prevention in the world sometimes cannot prevent the purchase of a lemon.

If you have doubts about the car you are considering, step back from the car lot and think it over.  If the salesperson is making certain guarantees, ask for them in writing.  Also, you may want to review the facts and get assistance from a local lemon law attorney.  He or she knows your state’s law and can give tips for purchasing new or used vehicles.
